Starting a Company

There are two methods to commercialize a technology developed by OSU faculty.

The traditional method is to license the technology to an existing company which will commercialize the intellectual property. The license agreement will normally require the company to make payments to OSU for the use of the technology. Revenues received under this type of license arrangement are distributed in accordance with OSU policy.

The second method is made possible by the CoStart program. Under CoStart, the principal investigator of a technology becomes an entrepreneur by starting his/her own company to commercialize technology.
